Descripción - Críticas The first half of this book covers the early part of Beatrix's life and the sketches, photographs and paintings of not only herself but of her gifted father and brother have been included. The authors, Joyce lrene Whalley and Wynne Bartlett have obviously made this a 'labour of love' producing a well researched and beautifully written tribute to Beatrix. The excellent. clearly drawn map on page 48 makes the walks which follow very easy to find 'on the ground'. There are three walks around Derwentwater. They are: Benjamin Bunny and Fawe Park . Squirrel Nutkin and Lingholm. Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and the Newlands Valley. The longest of these walks is only 3 miles and all are suitable for young children who are familiar with the tales. They are even more suitable for adults who have loved these stories since childhood! Each walk ' provides necessary information, such as: I. Where to start (with map references). 2. How to get there by ... car, on foot, by bus or by boat. Each walk is then meticulously described with many references to the texts, often quoting Beatrix's very words written as she gazed upon the same scene. The liberal sprinkling of sketches and matching photographs richly illustrate every page and can be easily matched to the landscape. Wynne Bartlett has spent a lot of time walking in the Lake District and this familiarity with the area helped her to identify many of the scenes in the Derwentwater Sketchbook of 1903, on which this book is based.
